The Center
Our Center began with Maylin, who founded the assessment center in 2019 after working in many diverse settings and situations, including qualifications for disability services related to autism and intellectual disability. Dr. Maylin’s superpower is seeing the good in every kid. She specializes in children and families and brings extensive experience in comprehensive assessments for children. Maylin also really enjoys working with families with Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs), coordinating treatment across multiple providers, and navigating serious mental health conditions and learning differences.
Going from solo to a team was the next big growth and Dennis Albaugh, Ed.S. joined the team. Drawing from a rich background as a school psychologist, Dennis knew the importance of having a multifaceted team. After a fortuitous encounter at numerous IEP meetings, the idea of bringing on additional expertise became a reality. Dennis brings his extensive experience from educational settings, understanding the nuances of how ADHD, autism, and behavioral challenges can affect school performance. He’s particularly adept at working with energetic, active boys, bridging the gap between clinical insights and school-based realities. Dennis’s superpower lies in his ability to picture and understand a child’s world across different environments—be it home, school, or clinical settings. This holistic view enables us to devise strategies that improve educational outcomes by seamlessly integrating insights into the child’s school life.
Dr. Megan then joined just over a year ago, enriching our team with her deep understanding of both medical and school environments. Her experience covers postdoctoral clinical training, private practice, and a specific interest in neurodevelopmental conditions like epilepsy. Megan excels in creating a comforting, supportive atmosphere for clients and their families, especially those embarking on the assessment journey for the first time. Dr. Megan’s compassion and empathy are crucial as she helps families navigate the often intimidating process of assessments. Her ability to ease communication and build trust is invaluable, especially when working with girls who may present with higher verbal skills and require a more nuanced approach
Our team thrives on our combined strengths, which include addressing school-based learning concerns and mental health overlaps. We work with children and young adults ranging from 2 to 25 years, offering a continuum of care that respects each individual’s unique needs.
What sets us apart is our breadth of experience and the continuity of care we offer. We’ve collectively spent years in educational settings and understand how to communicate effectively with educators and specialists.
